How the projections work

Each defender's IDP points over his last three games (weighted 50/30/20) are pulled toward the average for his position, scaled by how much he's on the field, so one big game doesn't dominate. That's blended with his season average, then moved up or down by up to 15% for the opposing offense. Only players on the field for at least 35% of recent snaps are ranked. Matchup rank 1 is the offense that gives up the most points to the player's position group (DL, LB or DB). In testing on weeks 3 and 4, projections were off by about 3 points per player on average, better than using each player's season average.
